Though processed, ceremonial cacao contains more cocoa butter than regular cacao powder. In addition, ceremonial cacao does not have any added sweeteners or spices typically seen in hot cocoa mixes.

While it is safe to drink ceremonial cacao at night, we do not recommend drinking it within an hour of bed. This is because ceremonial cacao contains low levels of caffeine and high levels of calming magnesium, which may interfere with your body’s sleeping pattern.
Is it Safe to Drink Ceremonial Cacao Every Day?
Having a ceremonial cacao drink daily is safe. However, it is not advisable to have more than 20 grams on any given day (or 40 grams for ceremonies). Drinking more than the recommended dose can cause headaches and stomach disruptions.
